Ensemble Bouzignac Utrecht consists of a choir, vocal soloists, and instrumentalists, and it performs with considerable variety to its composition. The ensemble is devoted to the stylistically faithful performance of Baroque music with an emphasis on the repertoire of the 17th century. This was not only the Golden Age of painting, sculpture and architecture; music too flourished greatly in the 17th century. In the presentation of this splendid music the formation and approach of Ensemble Bouzignac Utrecht are adapted to the demands of the repertoire. While the size of the choir caters to individual voices, the soloists also sing in the choir; this forms a strong bond between choir and soloists. The instrumental ensemble often plays one-to-a-part employing original Baroque instruments or copies.

Ensemble Bouzignac Utrecht has presented programmes with music composed by the ensemble's namesake, as well as other Baroque composers: Locke, Purcell, Gibbons, Funcke, Schütz, Demantius, Buxtehude, Monteverdi and Charpentier. The ensemble's repertoire also includes Dutch music of the Golden Age. In recent years Ensemble Bouzignac Utrecht has succeeded in acquiring its own place in the early music scene. The ensemble is a regular guest during the Holland Festival Early Music Utrecht and in the Early Music Network. Ensemble Bouzignac Utrecht has worked with guest conductors such as Wieland Kuijken, Erik van Nevel, and Martin Gester. Plans for future seasons include projects with musicians and conductors of international name and fame, including Konrad Junghänel and Christophe Rousset.
